Framework Seven Programme (FP7)
Funding available: Up to 50% of the cost of the R&D undertaking, drawing on a total budget of ?50,521 billion, with a yearly average of ?7 billion. The separate Euratom project and non-nuclear research activities of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), have separate budget allocations. Additionally, there are opportunities to be part of a pan-European consortia sharing knowledge, skills and expertise, gain access to new business markets and become involved in ambitious, leading-edge projects.

The Technology Strategy Board (TSB)
Funding available: The TSB hosts regular competitions to fund collaborative R&D projects from a range of technology and application areas and provides varying levels of funding from large projects to smaller projects, which can be approved within faster timescales. Between 2004 and June 2007 a portfolio of over 600 projects was being supported with a combined business and Government investment in excess of £1 billion.

Carbon Trust
Funding available: Carbon Trust Investments offers two funding streams:-
- Low Carbon Seed Fund - Typically up to £500k as an equity stake alongside other commercial investors on a like for like basis in UK-based, clean energy companies typically seeking to raise up to £1m. The total investment of transactions will typically be between £500K and £1.5m.
- Clean Energy Fund - Typically between £250k and £3m for any given business, with an average transaction size between £500k and £10m - Carbon Trust Investments only covers up to 50 per cent of the funding required for any one transaction, therefore other private investors must be identified for the remainder.
